ZARIA — The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, marked his second year in office with a grand empowerment programme held at the Federal University of Education, Zaria’s Multipurpose Hall on Saturday.
The event, which drew dignitaries, community leaders, and constituents from across Kaduna North Senatorial District, featured the distribution of about 1,000 motorcycles and 10 trucks of fertilizer to support farmers and boost mobility among youths and small-scale traders in the region.
Hon. Fidelix J. Bagudu was among the special guests who graced the occasion, commending the Speaker’s people-focused initiatives and continued investment in grassroots development.
Each of the eight local government areas in Kaduna North Senatorial Zone received 50 motorcycles, while one truckload of fertilizer was allocated per local government—amounting to 10 trucks in total, an effort aimed at strengthening the region’s agricultural output.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, in his remarks, said the gesture was part of his commitment to economic empowerment, youth employment, and support for rural farmers across his senatorial district.
“This empowerment initiative is to reduce the burden of transportation for our young entrepreneurs and enhance food production through improved access to fertilizer for our farmers,” he stated.
The event also featured cultural performances and goodwill messages from political stakeholders and beneficiaries who lauded the Speaker’s impact over the past two years.
