This move follows the recent passage and signing of the Electoral Act 2026, which has been the center of intense public discussion regarding the real-time electronic transmission of results.
During a Citizens’ Townhall on the new legislation, INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan addressed the “glitch” that marred the 2023 election results and assured the public that the commission is committed to more transparent outcomes.
As Nigeria prepares for the next major electoral cycle, the mock exercise is intended to rebuild voter confidence and ensure the integrity of the technological infrastructure ahead of the 2027 polls.
