The move follows an investigation into the January 7, 2026, death of Nkanu Adichie-Esege, the 21-month-old son of celebrated author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege.
The suspension also affects Euracare’s anesthesiologist, Dr. Titus Ogundare, and the Chief Medical Officer of Atlantis Pediatric Hospital, Dr. Atinuke Uwajeh.
The panel was established after Adichie publicly alleged that professional misconduct and negligence contributed to her son’s tragic passing following a brief illness.
Under the current order, all three doctors are barred from practicing medicine in Nigeria effective immediately.
This suspension will remain in place pending the final determination of their cases by the Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.
