The Action Alliance has praised the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for strengthening internal democracy as Prince Adewole Adebayo was announced as the party’s consensus presidential candidate at its National Convention held in Bauchi.

Delivering a goodwill message at the convention, the Action Alliance representative called the event historic and a sign of the growing cooperation among political players committed to Nigeria’s development.
“Distinguished delegates, respected leaders of the Social Democratic Party, esteemed guests, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen, I bring you warm greetings from the Action Alliance and sincerely thank you for inviting me to this historic national convention and presidential primary,” he said.
He pointed out that the gathering was more than just a meeting of party members; it was a demonstration of democratic vitality. “Democracy flourishes where ideas are shared freely, where principles guide competition, and where the main goal is the welfare of the people. In this regard, the Social Democratic Party has again shown its dedication to internal democracy, transparency, and strengthening our political institutions,” he added.
The Action Alliance envoy stressed that Nigeria’s challenges demand more than political rivalry, highlighting the importance of working together across party lines. “As leaders and stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic process, we must recognize that no single party has a monopoly on good ideas or solutions. Our country’s issues—economic growth, security, social justice, and national unity—call for not only political competition but also meaningful collaboration. It’s through constructive engagement across parties that we can build consensus, foster stability, and achieve real progress for our citizens,” he said.
He commended the SDP for offering a credible platform for choosing leaders and nurturing individuals committed to national progress. “In particular, I commend your presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, whose emergence reflects the hopes of many Nigerians for principled leadership, competence, and a renewed sense of purpose in governance,” he stated.
The speech highlighted that leadership in a democracy is about service, accountability, and earning the trust of citizens. “It takes courage to make tough decisions, wisdom to unite diverse interests, and humility to listen to the people. These are the values that should guide all of us, regardless of party affiliation,” he said.
As Nigeria approaches another vital phase in its democratic journey, the Action Alliance urged all stakeholders to commit to peaceful elections, issue-based campaigns, and respect for the rule of law. “Let us reject divisiveness and embrace unity, knowing that the strength of our democracy depends on our ability to work together, even when we disagree,” he urged.
He reiterated that the Action Alliance remains open to partnerships that promote good governance, electoral integrity, and national development. “We believe collaboration—not hostility—will move Nigeria forward. Together, we can foster a political culture that puts the people before personal or partisan interests,” he added.
The representative finished by congratulating the SDP on a successful convention and wishing Prince Adewole Adebayo and all candidates a fair and smooth process. “May the outcome reflect the will of the people and strengthen our shared dedication to democracy. May Nigeria continue to grow in unity, peace, and prosperity. Thank you, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
The announcement of Prince Adewole Adebayo as the consensus candidate was met with cheers from delegates at the Bauchi convention, which was attended by party leaders, members of the press, and guests from across the political spectrum.
