Nigeria to Field Three Teams at 2026 NFL Flag Africa Championship in Kenya

The Nigerian Federation of American Football (NFAF) has announced that Nigeria’s men’s, women’s, and co-ed Under-13 national teams will travel to Nairobi, Kenya, to compete in the 2026 NFL Flag Africa Continental Championship from July 9 to 11.

The event marks the third iteration of the continental showpiece, following inaugural tournaments hosted by Nigeria in 2024 and Egypt in 2025.

For the first time, this year’s tournament will bring together senior men’s and women’s rosters from five participating countries—Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, and the host nation, Kenya. Alongside the senior tournament, 10-player youth squads from each country will clash in a co-ed U-13 division.

Authorized by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) in partnership with the NFL, the three-day event will also feature an elite talent identification workout on July 11, giving local athletes a direct platform to be scouted by NFL representatives.

The NFAF emphasized that the championship is a pivotal milestone for growing flag football domestically as the sport prepares for its highly anticipated Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
