The Managing Director, Sokoto State Media Corporation, Alhaji Labaran Lumo Dundaye, has disclosed that the Sokoto State Government has procured over N1 billion ultramodern digital facilities for state-owned broadcast stations.
Dundaye spoke on Saturday in Sokoto at the monthly Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, held at the NUJ Press Centre, Zuru Road.
He said the digital facilities provided for the state’s three broadcast stations; RIMA Radio, RIMA FM and RIMA Television included two transmitters, editing suites, cameras and other related modern broadcast equipment.
According to him, the gesture is part of efforts to fully digitalize the operations of the three stations and expand their reach to the global community through their ICT department.
Dundaye further disclosed that the state government has provided five operational vehicles to bolster operations of the three broadcast stations.
Dundaye commended journalists in the state for being peace-loving and professional, noting that all sectors, agencies and departments in the state are aware of their contributions to development, especially on sensitive issues of security and religious matters.
He thanked the current NUJ leadership under Comrade Usman Mohammed Binji for sustaining unity and regularly organizing congresses, and lauded the state government for allowing the corporation to operate independently in line with ethics of the profession.
” We are operating smoothly and professionally in accordance with the ethics”, he stated , pointing out that no political activity would be under reported in line with the profession to drive objective, balanced and accurate coverage, assuring that neutrality, non partisanship in defence of public interest shall always be upheld.
