APC NWC CHIDES HOPE UZODIMMA FOR POOR PERFORMANCE

…APOLOGIZES TO UCHE NWOSU

…URGES IMO VOTERS TO VOTE FOR AA CANDIDATES

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress has asked its members in Imo State to abide by the directive of the Party’s Leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, by voting their conscience in the coming governorship and State Assembly elections.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Mallam Lanre Isah-Onilu, the Party said it regrets its decision to hand over the Party’s structure to strangers, thereby endangering the Party’s electoral chances in the State.

“A careful review of election results from Imo State during the Presidential and National Assembly elections shows that apart from the APC-AA alliance led by Governor Rochas Okorocha and Uche Nwosu, the Party fared badly, in areas controlled by the Party’s governorship candidate and his associates.”

“The 140,000 votes recorded for President Muhammadu Buhari mostly came from Orlu Senatorial District, where the governor won his senatorial election. In Owerri zone, the Party performed badly, and in Hope Uzodimma’s Orlu/Orsu/Oru-east Federal Constituency, we have information that the Senator worked against the Party’s candidate, Edwin Iheanacho to manipulate the process in favour of the PDP candidate who has just been declared winner by INEC.”

“The National Working Committee of the APC therefore dissociates itself from Senator Hope Uzodimma, while tendering an unreserved apology to Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and his followers for the injustice meted out to them during the Party’s primaries in the State. We therefore urge all members of the APC in Imo State to go out in their numbers to vote for Ugwumba Uche Nwosu who has shown more commitment to the APC and has shown more understanding of the APC manifestoes than Senator Hope Uzodimma and his group.”

“The directive for APC members in Imo State to vote for Action Alliance candidates on March 9th is in line with President Buhari’s earlier charge to Imo people to vote across Party lines. We hereby formally confirm the existence of a Perfect Alliance between the APC and AA in Imo State.”

Signed,
Mallam Lanre Isah-Onilu
National Publicity Secretary.
