The Court Of Appeal sitting in Kaduna on Monday affirmed the victory of Senator Uba Sani of the APC, representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the March 23, 2019 National Assembly Elections.
In a unanimous lead judgement read by Justice Adefope O. Okojie, unbehalf of the Chairman of the Appeal Panel, Justice Mukhtar Hassan, the Apellet Court dismissed the appeal of the PDP Candidate, Lawal Usman Adamu-Mr. La for lack of merit and upheld the judgement of the lower tribunal which had earlier affirmed the election of Senator Uba Sani.
According to Justice Okojie, Senator Uba Sani was duly qualified to contest the election, which he validly won.
Speaking to Invicta FM Correspondent, Ango Bally after the court verdict, one of the counsels to Senator Uba Sani, Frank Ikpe, SAN, described the judgemnt as fair and just in accordance with the rule of law.
Barrister Suleiman Shu’aibu, another counsel to Senator Uba Sani, who also commented on the judgement, louded it as victory to democracy. He then enjoined the appellant, Mr LA to congratulate and join hands with Senator Uba Sani for peace and progress of the state
However, the Counsel to Mr. La, Barrister Mohammad Adamu decline comment on the judgement.
Meanwhile, the Appeal Court also awarded Senator Uba Sani the sum of N100,000 as litigation fee incurred in the case, to be paid by the petitioner, Mr. La.
