A bloody clash was Friday averted at the UBA Gusau road branch, Sokoto ATM service spot when a soldier in civil wears slapped a police personnel attached to the bank.
The scenario also led to gun shots in the air which led customers on queue and passers bye around the bank premises to run for their lives.
An eye witness said the averted scene occurred at the bank’s ATM when the soldier made move to shunt the queue and other customers raised alarm to the security agents attached to the bank for intervention.
” On coming to find out what was going on, the soldier slapped the policeman who immediately alerted his colleagues.
” Within minutes, every where was tensed and later gun shots rented the air which dispersed all of us away.
” Within minutes a sizeable number of policemen appeared at the scene and some military men including three military officers and a military police with vehicles who’s intervention doused the tension and took the soldier away”, according to the eye witness.
Also, there was exchange of blows between customers for similar reason at the Gusau road branch of Ecobank, Sokoto which ATMs services were epileptic amids tension soaked queue of customers.
Though, the situation was quickly brought under control as good samaritans separated the fight.
However, unease tension and anxiety had since Thursday trailed long queues of customers at ATMs in Sokoto ahead of the christmas festivity.
The last minutes rush was a result of salaries payment to workers, fuel scarcity panic among other factors.
