ONE time Presidential candidate and former Governor of Sokoto State, Dr Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has applauded Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for adopting the leadership style of the late Premier of the defunct Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto.
Bafarawa made the remark when Governor Aliyu Sokoto paid him a condolence on the passing away of his younger sister, Hajiya Tumba and his aide, Yahaya Dada.
The former governor who was also a frontline founding father of the All Progressives Congress before quitting the party said governor Aliyu Sokoto’s resilience and purposeful commitment has forged him on track to replicate the leadership qualities of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello.
Bafarawa also urged the governor to maintain the momentum adding that
“Your style of leadership is quite similar to that of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello. So, continue with it,” he said.
Accordingly, the former Governor also commended Governor Aliyu Sokoto for his steps towards fostering peace and unity in the state assuring that he would remain supportive by assisting in repositioning the state for the benefit of the people while noting the inclusive style of the governor’s leadership.
” This has significantly helped in the transformation of the state political and developmental landscape by leaving KO room for opposition for plausible peace building process and initiatives”, he pointed out.
“I’m equally aware and acknowledged your reconciliatory efforts, which go beyond Sokoto State.
“Whenever there is a misunderstanding or dispute, you always intervene until an amicable resolution is reached. This is indeed commendable, so keep it up,” he urged.
However, the seasoned politician lauded governor Aliyu Sokoto for having concern over his personal matters and urged him to continue the good work he has started, particularly ensuring that all loyal supporters were duly appreciated and compensated to foster the course of his aspirations.
” I pray Allah to guide and support you in the process of of running the affairs of the state with diligence.”
Earlier, while condoling the former governor , governor Ahmed Aliyu described the deaths as great losses not only to Sokoto State but to the entire nation.
“I was in the Holy land for the lesser Hajj when the sad incidents occurred, which was why I couldn’t come earlier,” he explained.
The governor Aliyu prayed Allah to forgive the souls of the departed and grant them the highest places in paradise.
He thanked Bafarawa for his kind words of encouragement and prayed for continued peace, unity, and progress in the state and nation as a whole.
” Sokoto state and Nigeria are in dare need of peace, unity and tranquility for prosperity”, he said.
