CONCERNED over the spate of ravaging bandits activities in the state, Chairman Dange local government council, Alhaji Umar Gidan Gara has àppealed with a call on Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to urgently direct ban on all communities weekly night markets.
The by the council chairman is aimed at checking to forestall bandits attacks and other criminal activities at the grassroots.
According to Gara who was reacting to the continued attacks on communities by bandits noted that the measure if implemented would positively deepen the fight against banditry in Sokoto state.
He maintained that the call for the ban was necessary as fleeing bandits from neighbouring Zamfara State were making optimum use of surrounding weekly night community markets to make bulk purchases of essential commodities while others conduct business transactions.
According to him” Dange market which for long time immemorial is being operated in the nights hour is now to operating between 6am to 6pm weekly. “
The council Boss said wit the development, residents and communities in area had cancelled night businesses thus enjoying relative peace as banditry activities and other crimes activities were drastically reduced in the area.
He assured that soon, his council in collaboration with other security agencies would embark on massive patrol and raiding potential and identified lash points in the area.
He commended the synergy between the Sokoto State and federal government towards deploying additional security personnel with a view to curb the menace as well ensure safety of lives and property in order to maintain peace and stability across communities in he state.
