Banditry: Sokoto shuts communications service operations in 14 councils

Sokoto state government has shut down communications service operations in fourteen out of its twenty three government areas in the state.

However, 13 of the affected local government had been listed in the earlier September 1st security challenges containment Order.

The Order had closed some roads to motorists, suspended animal trades, prohibited transportation of cattle and more than three persons on motorcycles and tricycles among other related activities.

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who announced the development Monday said the decision was in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to block services of communications operations in 14 local government of the state.

Tambuwal in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity , Muhammad Bello gave the names of the local government areas affected by the earlier Executive Order as Gada, Goronyo, Gudu, Illela, Isa, Kebbe and Sabon Birni. Also affected are: Shagari, Rabah, Tambuwal, Tureta and Wurno local governments respectively.

Accordingly, the statement said Dange Shuni local government as the14th has also been affected by the latest communications blockade.

It will be recall that the Executive Order came to effect about three weeks ago as response to the security situation in the eastern axis of the state.
