The Kaduna State Government has charged Local Governments Councils to consolidate on the gains of the 2018-2020 Local Government Development Plan, LGDP.
The Director of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Local Government Affairs Mallam Garba Sani Aliyu gave the charge during a technical session on enhancing policy and budget linkages between the State and Local Government organized by the Ministry of Local Government Affairs in collaboration with the Planning and Budget Commission and Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn, PERL, a program funded by the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office, FCDO, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Mallam Sani said the session which is a follow up to an earlier workshop in August 2021 is aimed at consolidating on the achievements recorded with the development of the first Local Government Plan for 2018-2020 for the 23 Local Governments.
He noted that this session will ensure that participants really understand the processes involved in the development of the LGDP, thereby coming up with a plan that will be easily comprehensible and easy to link with the annual estimates of the Local Government Councils, expose the gaps between the responses earlier submitted and what ought to be submitted and provide an opportunity to enrich the initial work on the 2021-2025 LGDP that have been submitted.
On his part, the Reform Manager of the Accountable, Responsive and Capable Pillar of PERL said the objectives of the session are to consolidate on the gains of the previous plan, integrate lessons learnt from the implemented plan for 2018-2020 and provide linkages to the Kaduna State Development Plan.
Participant who attended the session included Directors of Works and Infrastructure, Deputy Directors of Budget and Assistant Directors’ Budget and Planning of the 23 LGAs and the Open Government Partnership community led by the Civil Society Steering Committee Co-Chair, Hadiza Umar.
The session which started on Tuesday 14th September will run through Tuesday 21st of September, 2021.
