Council Polls: Tambuwal attends grand rally amidst low turn as Shagari drums for PDP 2023 presidency to be zoned to Sokoto

GOVERNOR Aminu Waziri Tambuwal yesterday barely missed the state local government polls zonal grand finale campaign event that was characterised by low turn out as former deputy governor , Mukhtari Shagari drummed support for Tambuwal’s bid for 2023 presidency.

However, Tambuwal arrived the Giginya Stadium venue of the event 6:55pm after more than half of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party loyalists, supporters and members drawn from across the 23 local governments made their way out of the venue.

Most of the supporters and members who were mobilised to the venue for the event since morning , waited for long as they got exhausted and eventually left mid way of the rally before the governor’s arrival.

Shagari who broke his silence on the PDP seeming option for zoning its presidential ticket , said the party should consider zoning the presidency to Sokoto while urging supporters to pray fervently for the dream to come through.

According to him, Tambuwal remain a credible and visionary leader who is coming from a politically minded state of Sokoto.

He recalled by saying ” in 2015, Sokoto people took bold steps to massively give their votes to APC and did not reap anything from their efforts at supporting the party.”

The former Water Resources Minister who did not spare the opposition APC describing it as a party of deceit and incompetence, also added ” the party has failed to add value to the survival journey of Nigerians.”

Shagari who was deputy to former Governor Aliyu Wamakko described Tambuwal as symbol of justice and good governance.

Meanwhile, speaking, Governor Tambuwal said PDP and its members were resolute and focused at showing the world their political strength both in the state and country ahead of the council polls and 2023 political dispensation.

According to the governor who maintained that it was clear and evidently proved that Sokoto belongs to the ruling PDP in the state, noted that the party was in high spirit as a popular choice for citizens in the state.

” I will use this opportunity to urge you to turnout enmasse and vote on Saturday to prove our party’s popularity and acceptance .”

He however, assured that his government would not fail to deliver its promises by providing the needed infrastructure while urging all and sundry in the state and Nigeria to seek divine intervention against current security challenges.

” Let’s be prayerful for the security and peace of the state and Nigeria”, he stressed.

Also, Alhaji Muhammadu Dangoggo, Zonal Vice Chairman Sokoto central appreciated Tambuwal for his resilience and fulfilment of his campaign promises to electorates in the state.

” You have turned around the state by vigorously embarking on capital projects very dear to the people of the state especially the Illela garage bridge at More area”, he pointed out.

Making his remarks, Alhaji Maigona observed that the opposition APC withdrew its participation for fear of been floored at the polls.

Maigona pointed out that the opposition party was driven by gimmicks and cannot size the test of time against the sprawling acceptance of PDP in Sokoto state.

Hitherto, the grand finale featured the presentation of the party’s flags to all the 23 standard chairmanship candidates of the ruling PDP at the event attended by the state deputy governor, Muhammadu Manir Dan Iya, a former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Gusau, State Assembly legislators , state executive council members , party stalwarts among other politicians.
