Police detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigating Department (CID) of the Delta State Police Command have commenced search for suspected Fulani herdsman who allegedly killed one Isaac Orighowo after a failed attempt by the deceased to rape his wife.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed measures by the police to fish out the suspected killer, told newsmen in Asaba on Monday that the victim was allegedly killed in Edjekoja community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state at the weekend.
According to DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the victim was alleged to have been killed right inside a cottage house in the bush where the suspected Fulani herdsman lives with the wife before the bubble burst, a situation which led to the alleged killing of the victim inside the bush.
DSP Aniamaka said “The Police detectives are on the trail of the suspect who allegedly killed the man in the bush, and the police will do everything possible to fish him out”.
It was gathered that the wife of the suspected Fulani herdsman was asleep in their house inside the bush when the victim allegedly swooped on her, forcing her into rape, unfortunately she escaped to call the husband who raced down to the scene with his gun and shot him on the chest and died instantly.
While the police had increased by its teams of the police detectives to fish out the suspect, DSP Aniamaka warned against criminal acts as the command would not tolerate such from anybody, especially the Fulani herdsmen attacking residents across the state.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police has confirmed the arrest of suspected cultist in Urhobo community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.
DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state who confirmed the arrest of the suspect to newsmen in Asaba, disclosed that the suspect identified as Daniel Saturday was arrested by the Police Patrol team in Jesse on Sunday evening, adding that upon interrogation, the suspect confessed that he is a member of the vickings confraternity in the area, adding that he had part took in many robberies in the community in the recent time.DSP Aniamaka said the suspect will be charged to court on completion of investigation
