… assures upholding democratic values- Gov. Aliyu Sokoto

SOKOTO state Governor, Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has said that Nigeria’s diversity remain her strength hence the need for sustainable peace and unity in the country.

He projected that Nigeria will continue to remain prosperous in stability for development.

Similarly, the governor assured of his government readiness to uphold and defend democratic values in the interest of the state and nation in general.

The Governor made the remarks in a statement by his Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa issued to journalists in Sokoto in commemoration of the country’s 2023 Democracy Day.

Aliyu Sokoto also assured people of the state of his administration’s readiness to respect democratic principles and tenets.

” All the rights enshrined under democratic values and principles would be respected”, the governor maintained.

He stressed that his administration’s 9-point agenda was deliberately designed to responsively transform the state through policies and programmes that would fast track meaningful people-oriented projects.

He explained that the agenda contained major needs of the people of the state and pledged to religiously drive and logically execute same in tune with the financial strength of the state.

” People of Sokoto State have voted for us with the hope that we’ll rescue the state from the PDP’s mess.

“So, we have to do all that is possible to ensure that the lost glory of the state is restored for the good of all,” he averred.

While referring to his initial steps at restoring confidence in the people of the state , Dr Aliyu Sokoto remarked that the young administration had so far succeeded in restoring water supply to Sokoto metropolis after months-long scarcity.

” We are observing the assured open door policy with listening ears inorder to positively drive the yearnings and aspirations of the teeming people of the state”, he stated.

The Governor hitherto, restated his commitment to improve the living condition of the people especially at the grassroots while soliciting the support and cooperation of citizens to ensure the rejuvenation of the state.

In the same vein, Aliyu Sokoto wished Nigerians happy and momentous celebrations, urging them to continue to be law abiding and respect constituted authorities.
