DOGARA’S VERBAL VOYAGE AND AVOIDING THE YUGOSLAVIAN ROAD

BY OLIVER UDEOGU

As Guest Speaker at the Northern Christians APC Summit held recently in the nation’s capital Abuja, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Yakubu Dogara stirred the hornets nest, during his epoch making speech.
A bewildered nation has been in shock ever since then, with apprehension over the future of Nigeria, regarding the 2023 Presidential polls, to be held in February next year, most paramount in their minds.

Former Speaker Dogara had questioned the rationale for an all Muslim Presidential ticket by his party the rulling APC, going by the fact that the two main religion in Nigeria Christianity and Islam are evenly distributed in followership across the country.
He had wondered why any right thinking person would consider such a ticket in today’s Nigeria, that is multi ethnic and religious, which is a time bomb in the waiting.

“Righteousness exalted a nation while sin is reproach to any nation”
So says the former Speaker of the Parliament, who added that the protagonists of the evil orchestration of an all Muslim Presidential ticket in the country, are at the verge of making Nigeria go the Yugoslavia route no doubt.

According to Dogara, no revolution in human history is believed to work at inception.
Not one to say the least as government always believed it could handle such till it overwhelms it.
He cited the German and the French revolutions, that took their then governments unaware.
In Dogara’s words, “Since Northerner Muslims may find it difficult voting for a Southern Muslim, then the Southern Christians equally will find it difficult voting either a Northern Muslim or Southern Muslim for that matter.

Prior to this development, concerned Citizens of Nigeria have wondered why the rulling party APC choose an all Muslim Presidential ticket which is quite divisive, at a time the country needs genuine reconciliation among her people, having been divided as never before, in its history as a people.

Dogara has said that when a party divides the people and wins, it will be difficult for it to rule a divided people.
He had wondered why Nigeria a circular State, has Muslims at the corridors of power in the current regime except for the Vice President of the Republic, who is a Christian.
This according to him is quite unhealthy, and injurious to the unity of the country.

The APC Presidential Flagbearer Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu after he was elected at the Party’s special convention in May, was asked by well meaning Nigerians, to ensure his ticket is balanced, by considering the major religion in the land.
The Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN) had written the APC Flagbearer on a number of occassions, when rumours emerged that the party is considering a Muslim running mate for the Presidential Candidate.
In the end Tinubu and Company went ahead and picked Shettima the Governor of Borno State, an action that was interpreted as one telling the Christians in Nigeria to go to hell afterall.
But Christians will not go to hell for sure but rather, would mobilize and ensure their votes matter, by voting out the APC at all levels of governance in the country.

Since that unfortunate event by the leadership of the rulling party, the party’s Presidential flight seems to have grounded, even before take off.
Only those of them with a sharp sensual antenna, would be able to grab this.

The Osun humiliation of the APC at the State’s governorship polls, leaves much to be desired by the party’s egg heads, if they really have the right thinking cap, desired of a normal being afterall.
A hitherto stronghold of the APC Candidate which is his hometown, was snatched away by a political hurricane piloted by angry residents of Osun, who as such represent the masses of this country, who have sworn to take back Nigeria at all cost come 2023.

The APC during the unveiling of its Vice Presidential Candidate to the Nigerian public, descended low by hiring fake Bishops and Pastors, in order to give credence to that very unfortunate exercise.

With the rising spate of insecurity in the country, analysts are of the view that if government does not rise to the occassion, it may be goodbye to the nation’s hard earned democracy.
A situation that could hasten the break up of Africa’s most populous nation Nigeria no doubt.

It is reported that members of the dreaded ISWAP and Boko Haram fighters are making dangerous incursions into Abuja the heart of the nation.
As a result of this, forbidden areas have been attacked by these terrorists, such as the NDA, army check points and of late, the almighty Brigade of Guards Solders were ambushed and killed by these terrorists, while some were abducted.

Some notable citizens of Nigeria have poured their frustrations on these rising crime wave across the country.
As such they have blamed the government of the day, over its failure to curb this menace, while asking the President to resign for good on account of poor stewardship.
Just last week, a caucus of the Senate called for the impeachment of the President, having given the Presidency an ultimatum of Six months to curb the high rate of insecurity in the land.

It seems quite obvious at this point to say that kama is indeed at work in the country,, with the blood of innocent citizens wasted in the most indignified manner having effect on the current crises rocking the nation to its very fabric.

One may be tempted not to believe the current crisis today in the rulling party the APC is ordinary but rather divine.

If not how on earth could a party of such magnitude, pick an all Muslim Presidential ticket in the build up to the 2023 general polls, in a religious circular country like Nigeria?.

How and how one may ask repeatedly for clarity sake.
Indeed time shall tell.
