Drug Abuse Robbing Youths Of Their Future – Says Convener, Drug Free Areas Movement

The Lead-Convener of a non-novernmental organisation, Drug-Free Arewa Movement, DFAM, Ibrahim Yusuf, says that the abuse of Drugs is robbing youths of their future in the North, with a proof that every hour a teenager experiments with illicit drug for the first time.

He said this in a statement signed for the coalition of non-governmental organizations, NGOs, and stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse in the north under the auspices of drug-free arewa movement.

In a chat with Invicta FM News, Yusuf said the arewa day of action was set aside to mobilize youths, NGOs and Community Based Organisations to collectively say No to Illicit Drug Trafficking and Abuse in the region.

He further stated the demand of the group in securing their commitment in facilitating, engaging and ensuring a drug free society from all stakeholders; calling for committed participation in the total emancipation drive to drastically reduce to the minimum, drug abuse and trafficking in the north for a generational sustenance.

Some collaborative partners of the Drug-Free Arewa movement include the initiative are Triumphant Youth Foundation (TYF), Mamman Marshal Foundation (MMF), Arewa Young Leaders Initiative (AYLI), and Muhammadu Anchau Foundation (MAF).
