The initiative aims to restore Nigeria’s sports facilities to international standards.
Announced by the National Sports Commission following its Tenders Board meeting, the ratified contracts form part of a broader government strategy to leverage sports for youth engagement and economic growth.
The cornerstone of the upgrade program focuses on the stadium’s main bowl, which has seen restricted use by national teams due to its deteriorating pitch.
The extensive overhaul will feature a total revamp of the playing surface and tartan tracks, alongside modern upgrades to the dressing rooms, media center, VIP and corporate suites, public address and security systems, climate control facilities, and the stadium’s roof membrane.
