Adams publicly urged the Ghanaian government to begin exploring plans to make the ambitious idea a reality, citing FIFA’s recent trend of awarding hosting rights to multiple nations.
The Minister noted recent precedents, including the 2026 World Cup, which will be staged across the USA, Mexico, and Canada, and the 2030 edition, set to be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
Ghana last hosted a major international sporting event with the delayed 2023 African Games in 2024, while Côte d’Ivoire successfully staged the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Adams believes that pooling resources across the West African nations could meet the massive logistical and infrastructural requirements of hosting the World Cup.
