Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling, stating that Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment on counts one, four, five, and six of the charges. The judge specified that he delivered a life sentence instead of the death penalty on these counts.
In addition to the life term, the IPOB leader was also sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on Count Three and five years imprisonment on Count Seven, with no option of a fine attached to either.
Justice Omotosho ordered that all sentences shall run concurrently, meaning Kanu will serve a maximum of the life term.
