Gov. Aliyu Sokoto sets 23 man committee, restores monthly stipends for religious heads, physically challenged

SOKOTO state Governor, Dr Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has approved the constitution of a 23- Member Committee for the payment of monthly stipends to the physically challenged, religious heads( Imams and deputies, Muazzims) the and scholars in the state.

In a release weekend by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa said the Governor approval was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to restore the monthly stipends policy to the categories of people in the state

The 23-Member Committee to be
Chaired by Dr Rufa’i Usman Rungumi with Dr Muhammad Umar Yabo as Secretary, is to among other terms of reference carry out a rigorous screening of the physically challenged to benefit from the monthly stipends.

Others are : introduce measures aimed at ensuring that the genuine and Screened beneficiaries get the stipends and to ensure that only genuine Imams, Deputy imams, Muazzins and Ulamas benefit from the gesture.

Accordingly, the release said, the committee has two weeks to complete its assignment to enable beneficiaries start enjoying the monthly stipends.

Other members of the committee include: Alhaji Hassan Bello Dangote, Bello Garba Gwadabawa, Sarkin Bodinga, Sarkin Rabah,
Sarkin Gabas of Durbawa, Malam Ya’u Muhammad Danda and Liman Shehu Ardo Wamakko.

Also are : Hon Aminu Liman Bodinga, Malam Nafiu Dan Hajah, Jamilu Mua’zu kofar Kware, Hajiya Maryam Sulaiman D’mass, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, Alhaji Babuga Oro and Alhaji Adamu Mai Taba.

The rest are: Rep. of Min. for LGs,
Rep. of Min. for Social Welfare, Rep. of Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Rep. of Min.for Religious Affairs, Rep. of the Disabled Persons, Malam Mustafa Yabo and Hassan Abdul Rahman Dan Almajiri.
