Peter Jatau, Abuja, July 11, 2025 — The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between Katsina State and the FIRS, particularly in the areas of tax reforms, digital innovation, voluntary tax compliance, enforcement strategies, and grassroots sensitization.
Governor Radda commended Dr. Adedeji’s transformative leadership at the FIRS and described the agency as “the engine room of Nigeria’s economic growth.” He reiterated his administration’s commitment to aligning with national tax policies and adopting progressive tax practices that will enhance revenue generation and improve public service delivery in the state.
“We are ready to implement innovative tax systems that support transparency and development. Katsina State remains committed to the success of Nigeria’s tax reform agenda,” the governor stated.
In his remarks, Dr. Adedeji welcomed the governor and expressed appreciation for Katsina State’s proactive stance on revenue matters. He noted that FIRS is keen on deepening partnerships with sub-national governments to broaden the national tax base and drive inclusive economic growth.
“This kind of synergy is vital for building a robust, transparent, and technology-driven tax system that supports our shared development goals,” Dr. Adedeji said.
Governor Radda was accompanied by the Accountant General of Katsina State, Alhaji Nura Tela. Also present on the FIRS team were the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Adetayo Koleosho, and the Coordinating Director at FIRS, Dr. Kabir Abba.
The meeting highlighted a renewed commitment by both federal and state institutions to work together towards building a more efficient and responsive tax administration in Nigeria.
