Kano State has once again taken the spotlight in national leadership as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso emerged among the top honorees at the upcoming 10th Annual Lecture and Awards Ceremony organized by Authentic News Daily.

The prestigious event, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the iconic Arewa House in Kaduna, will see Governor Yusuf receive the “Authentic Humanitarian Governor of the Year 2024” award. According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the award recognizes Yusuf’s transformative leadership, commitment to social justice, and impactful grassroots development initiatives across Kano State.
Senator Kwankwaso, a former Kano governor and national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), will be conferred with the “Authentic Politician of the Year 2024” title. He was described by the organizers as a political icon whose legacy of mentorship and visionary governance has shaped Nigeria’s political discourse.
Also expected at the event is Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who will be honoured as the “Authentic Woman of the Year.”
This year’s ceremony is themed “Religion as a Tool for Peace and National Unity” and will feature a keynote address by former Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd). Other speakers include Rev. Joseph John Hayab of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Sheikh Halliru Abdullahi Maraya of the Global Peace Foundation, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, representing the government’s perspective.
The awards committee commended Governor Yusuf and Senator Kwankwaso for their unwavering dedication to public service, stating that the recognitions followed a rigorous evaluation based on impact, character, and national significance.
