FIFA President Gianni Infantino has dismissed widespread criticism and mounting calls for a boycott of the 2026 World Cup, following his decision to grant US President Donald Trump an inaugural “peace prize.”

Speaking with newsmen, Infantino maintained that the recognition—presented during the tournament draw in Washington D.C.—was “objectively” earned, regardless of the political storm it has triggered across the football world.
