Top hierrachy of the nation’s defence line led by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr.Bello Matawalle on Tuesday, arrived Sokoto following the presidential directive to end the escalating security situation occasioned by terrorists, bandits and sundry criminal activities in the northwest subregion of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states.
The team which arrived the caliphate via Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, include the CDS, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa, CDI and the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Major General E.A.P Undiandeye (rtd) are in Sokoto State as part of their efforts to address the security challenges facing the state and other parts of the North.
Their presence was in line with FG renewed efforts to rid the North West of the menace of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other crimes in the region.
However, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had directed the Defence Minister of State, the Chief of Defence Staff and other military Chiefs to move to Sokoto which houses the Headquarters of the GOC , 8 Division of the Nigeria Army comprising Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi States along with Ministry of Defence.
