The leadership of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto state on Tuesday took a swipe on Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal challenging him over alleged insensitivity to the spate of growing insecurity bedevilling the state.

It noted with concerns how Tambuwal handles security issues with kids gloves , urging the governor to wake up from slumber and do the needful to save lives and property of citizens especially in the eastern axis of the state.

Addressing reporters Tuesday in Sokoto current issues on the state, APC state Chairman,  Hon. Sadik Isah Achida said Governor Tambuwal had never taken security issues serious since banditry began to rear its ugly head in the last three years in the state.

” The situation led to an unimaginable loss of lives and property especially in the eastern axis of the state”, he pointed out.
Achida noted that the conventional security meetings had since been discontinued.

” We are calling on the state government to be abreast with its responsibility by holding regular weekly security meetings at various strata of the state security architecture “, he stressed.

Accordingly, the party Chairman further took a swipe on the governor, urging him to take a leaf from his Borno and Yobe states counterparts especially Governor Umara Zulum  whose first year achievements were colossal compared to the alleged zero performance of Tambuwal in five years.

In the same vein, the  opposition  party in the state expressed concerns describing as disturbing that citizens in the state were yet to feel the positive impact of the celebrated state of emergency declared on the education. sector with a number of primary and secondary schools in dilapidated state.

”  Nothing has changed in the sector inspire of the huge deductions of monies from salaries of workers in the name of education levy in addition to subjecting experienced teachers to utter neglect with attendant demotion of principals, headmasters under Governor Tambuwal”, he pointed out.

While saluting the spirit of patience and perseverance exhibited by the teeming workers in the state service , Achida said” from facts available to us, inspired of all the allocations to the sector, the only money used for capital development in the sector in the state, is the deductions made from their monthly salaries.”

Similarly, it further observed with grave concerns the poor state of roads in Mabera area and other metropolitan community axis which have suffered neglect by the ruling PDP government .

” Anytime it rains , one needs to engage a Canoe to paddle his way in some parts of Mabera through the flooded ravaged access roads. Tambuwal has failed to fulfill his promise since 2015 on these roads even though, his council had proposed same in its 2017 budget”, he stated.

Achida, however, while highlighting a number of proposed road projects expected to have been completed or almost completed in 2019 running to N2.7bn , attributed it to Tambuwal’s  lack of political will and commitment to the progress of the state” this made the execution of the projects an unattainable dream .”
