Kano Police Busts “Yandaba” Gang, Arrests Robbers, Fraudsters, Rapists and Sodomists, Recovers Dangerous Weapons.

The Kano state command of the Nigerian Police force has arrested 16 persons and recovered dangerous weapons in it’s determination to rid the state of thugs and criminal elements.

At a press briefing at the police command on the achievements of the command in the past week the Police spoke person, DSP. Magaji  Musa Majia said the Commissioner of police, CP Rabiu Yusuf, is determined to rid Kano State of all forms of criminal activities.

He listed parts of the achievements of the command to include Series of raids at various criminal hideouts with the intent to sanitize the State against the activities of Yandaba.

DSP Magaji said ” 16 Youths were arrested in connection with Daba activites with exhibits of knives, cutlasses, sticks, cudgels, swords, Indian hemp and other intoxicants recovered, All were already charged to Court, diligently prosecuted and awarded 1 year imprisonment without option of fine”.

“Different other syndicates of Yandaba numbering about 210 were earlier arrested, investigated and are being prosecuted in different Courts of law.

“So far, 33 suspects were already convicted to 3 to 5 years imprisonment without any option of fine due to their weight of culpability. The raids will be sustained. The Commissioner of Police Kano State had declared to charge all suspects using weapons to take advantage of their victims as armed robbers.”

The police also arrested two fraudsters, Sanusi Sani Gona of filin Samji Katsina and Bashir Mohammed of Mashi all in Katsina State with 2 others now at large conspired under the aegis of APC North/West Zone Youth Forum in collaboration with oil and Gas Union defrauding Students and Youth with a promise of scholarship to sponsor them to study abroad.

The PPRO further explained that “They were arrested collecting application fee of N8,000.00K at Rumfa College Kano and Katsina State Ministry of Agriculture Headquarters respectively. Over 200 victims were identified while the sum of N2,234,200.00k was recovered. Investigation is in progress as it is extended to Kaduna State and Katsina States to arrest his accomplices. Already, his bank account has been blocked to further trace other victims and recover more of his loot. Students and Youth are advised to be wary”.

On sex crimes the command says it recorded some successes Magaji said “The Month of Ramadan witnessed an impressive decline of sexual offences in the State. But immediately after Sallah celebration to date, 18 cases were recorded. Among which is one Ibrahim Musa 25yrs of Saye Village from Bichi LGA, who lured a 9yrs old girl into his shop located in the Village and sexually abused her. He confessed to the crime. 1 suspect was arrested at Kurna Asabe Qtrs for Sodomy against a 5yr old boy, but all other suspects were charged for rape of minors between the ages of 3-5yrs.”

The Police also arrested notorious robbers and killers within this time period.

According to Magaji “Detectives in the Command had also arrested two notorious criminals who excelled in executing armed robbery, snatching of phones, killing of victims in and around Sheka, Darmanawa, Hausawa Gyadi-Gyadi, Maidile, Danmaliki, Sabuwar Gandu, Shagari Qtrs and Jaen Qtrs. The suspects who led different syndicates are Muhammed Suleman alias Aljan of Sheka Qtrs Kano who had earlier fled Kano for Abuja since about five months ago after committing armed robbery. He was eventually arrested in less than 3 hours as he returns to Kano on Sallah day. He was arrested with an exhibit of one long knife and sachets of Rohypnol tablet.
Rabiu Abdullahi alias Hitler of Hausawa Qtrs, he led syndicate to terrorize people in the aforementioned areas.

“He was charged to Court for a different offence and now that a case of armed robbery is fully established against him, he will be reproduced back to Police, investigated thoroughly and charged for armed robbery as declared by the CP Kano.” He concluded.
