Sokoto Justice Commissioner, Usman now SAN

Sokoto state has joined the list of privileged states to have for the first time in history, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria(SAN) following the emergence of Barrister Suleiman Usman.

He was among 29 others appointed by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) as announced by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Hadizatu Mustapha on Thursday.
The 46 year old SAN has been in the legal practice with ascending track record in since 2000.
Usman, the current Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in the state is the first indigenous and resident lawyer to rise to the position in the state.
He graduated from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto in 1998 and enrolled at the Nigeria Law School between 1999 and 2000 when he was called to the Nigerian Bar.
The newly appointed Senior Advocate also holds a Master of Laws from the University of Liverpool.
Usman was a one time speaker of Kware local government between 1991 and 1993; Special Adviser to Sokoto state government on Legal Matters between 2003 and 2006; and Sokoto state delegate to the National Political Reform Conference in 2005.
Before his appointment as Sokoto state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Usman was the Principal Counsel and Head of Practice at Gamzaki Law Chambers.
