KEPA begins door-to-door refuse collection.

The Kaduna Environmental Protection Authority (KEPA) said, the agency had commenced door-to-door refuse evacuation within the metropolis.

General Manager of KEPA, Maimunatu Abubakar, who made this known today in an interview with news men, in Kaduna, said the initiative would ensure a cleaner and healthier state.

Abubakar said the program began with the distribution of bills generated to hotels, schools,  hospitals, and other business premises across the metropolis.

She added that the first phase of refuse evacuation would start with business premises due to the high volume of waste generated daily in those places.

According to her, the agency is working on its automated machines for mass generation of bills for distribution to households.

“Presently, we are able to produce 60 bills a day while working on our software to generate over 15, 000 bills per day for mass distribution,” she said.

Abubakar said that when in full operation, dumping of waste along major roads would not be condoned and advices residents to comply.
