The Sokoto state police command on Tuesdayconfirmed the release of the abducted Syrian, Abdul Nadir by his captives.
Nadir working with a construction company Tiracta Engineering Nig. Ltd., was last week kidnapped by a group of unidentified gun men during which three policemen lost their lives in a cross fire with the kidnappers on Sokoto-Bodinga road in Sokoto state.
Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters, DSP Cordelia Nwawe, PPRO said the Syrian national was released Monday mid-night.
” He was dropped by the Kidnappers Monday mid-night at Arkilla area of Sokoto metropolis.”
According to Nwawe, the victim was released in good health” We are making efforts to apprehend the kidnappers.”
However, the command image maker said the police was not aware of any money given to the captives before the release of their victim.
The good thing is that he has regained his freedom and he is hale and hearty. We are happy he is back and safe”, She said.
Accordingly, Nwawe urged the public to go about their normal businesses while calling on them to be more vigilant and law abiding” I am using this moment to urge the people of Sokoto state not to hesitate to report suspicious persons and movement to the police for prompt and rapid response. The police need cooperation and useful information from you to fight crime and criminals”, She emphasised.
