
Wikki Feeders FC have emerged champions of the maiden edition of the League One Preseason Soccer Tournament.
They beat Family Worship Abuja by a lone goal in the final played at the Treasure Sports Management (TSM) Football Pitch on Friday March 6, 2020.
Both teams had earlier played a barren first half after efforts at goal proved futile.
Only goal of the match came in the second half.
Earlier in the third place match, TSM FC lost 1-2 to Younger Generation FC.
In the special awards category, Highest Goal Scorer was won by Joel Okoro (Family Worship Abuja) who scored three goals.
Ayandare Joseph also of (Family Worship Abuja) emerged the Most Valuable Player (MVP), while Fair Play Award went to Zaki Mairiga FC of Gombe.
In an interview with newsmen after the presentation of trophies and medals, CEO Treasures Sports Management, Gabriel Tukura said that it is the first of its kind sponsored by Treasures Sports Management.
“This is the first of its kind and it was a huge success. A foreign scout was supposed to be around but his family was sick so he couldn’t make it,” he said.
He assured that it will be held annually before commencement of League One Season.
On the sponsorship, he informed that it was solely bank rolled by TSM.
“TSM sole sponsors of the tournament, from records, about N700k was invested in the tournament and we are still spending. We didn’t have time to reach out to other sponsors,” he informed.
The tournament which featured eight teams, started on March 1 with a workshop at Treasures Resort, Kaduna.
Teams that participated are; Treasures Sports Management featured two teams, Academy and league team, Younger Generation FC Bauchi, Giwa FC Kaduna, Bityong Corner Stone FC Kaduna, Zaki Mairigai FC Gombe, Wikki Feeders Bauchi and Family Worship Centre Abuja.
Dignitaries spotted at the final include Kaduna State FA Chairman, Honourable Shareeff Alkassim, Kaduna FA Secretary, Shaba, Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) National Organising Secretary, Malam Abdulrazak Usman, Alhaji Abdulgafar Agboola and former Kaduna State Commissioner of Sports, Honourable Bityong
