One Project Reach Out Foundation (OPA), the lead implementing partner for the newly launched Kaduna Youth Agenda (KYA), has honored the Chairman of Lere Local Government Council, Honorable Abubakar Buba as one of its ambassadors for his invaluable contributions to governance reforms, youth empowerment and his open door policy in Lere Local Government Council in Kaduna state.
Executive Director of OPA, Zigwai Ayuba, who was accompanied by members of Coalition of Associations for Leadership, Peace, Empowerment & Development (CALPED) – while presenting the letter of recognition to Honorable Buba at the Kaduna state Ministry for Local Government Affairs on Tuesday August 27, 2019, said the recognition of Lere LG Boss became necessary because of his track record and his invaluable contributions, as one the local government chairmen in Kaduna state who has been carrying youths in Lere Local Government Area along, thereby fulfilling one of the fundamental objectives of the Kaduna Youth Agenda.
The executive director, youths’ programs, explained that following a 2018 survey, would make great impact in the area of Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Job Creation and Peace Building; receiving a 70% approval rating. The findings with 82% responses showed that young people desire to be appointed by government into political offices.
OPA, is determined to identify areas that would be beneficial to the youths, both at the urban and rural areas, Ayuba maintained, stressing the need for youths to be given a sense of belonging.
Responding, Honorable, Abubakar Buba, thanked the executive director for the gesture and pledged to be in the forefront of the youth development agenda.
“I feel delighted to be honored as one of the ambassadors of the Kaduna Youth Agenda. I am particularly pleased by the five-point agenda which touches on very critical areas of human capital development.
“Issues of the youth is about the future of the nation; it’s a collective responsibility; it’s a noble course which must be given total commitment; it must be treated as a one big family affair and proud to be part and parcel of it all”, Buba remarked, cautioning that issues affecting the youth are fundamental and germane that must not be toyed with.
The Executive Chairman also committed to deliver at least 25% of the agenda over the next three months, as anything below this will be a failure on his part.
The Kaduna Youth Agenda, according to him is representing the needs and aspirations of over 60% of the population in the state, which is approaching 10million. No sensible government will ignore the needs of a huge demography of its total population.
