Police in Kano today paraded a septuagenarian along with 2 robbers. The arrest of the suspect was in continuation of the commands crackdown on criminal in the state.
While briefing the media the Spokesperson of the command, DSP Magaji Musa Mania, said “As we continue the onslaught against the activities of gangs of yandaba especially in the Kano Metropolitan, the following notorious gang members are recently arrested and will soon be arraign for diligent prosecution.
“Umar Yakubu aka Alhazai or Olugwe who led a gang of notorious thugs who commits series of armed robberies, extortions, Housebreaking and murder along Kofar Nassarawa Qtrs was arrested while attempting to cause the death of an innocent 60yrs old resident of the area. He was arrested with one long sword, 2 knives and one assault screw driver. He confessed and mentioned the names of his gang members as the Command is trying to arrest them and bring them before the law.
“Nura Abdulmumini aka Canabaro of Lokon Magina Kankarofi Qtrs Kano, who led a notorious gang of Yandaba to extort valuable from innocent people and was involved in the murder of an innocent passerby in front of School of Arabic Studies (SAS) along Emir Palace road Kano sometimes last year. The suspect fled Kano for Onitsha since then. He returned to Kano on the eve of last Sallah and involved in another snatching of motorcycle and phones at Kofar Nassarawa. He was arrested with one big assault knife. He will soon be charged for the murder and subsequent cases of extortions he committed for prosecution.
“ARREST OF SEPTUGENARIAN RAPIST: Aminu Bello aka Babangidan Kosai aged 67 years of Gaida Fadama quarters, Kano was arrested for sexually assaulting his childhood friend and neighbor’s 8 years old grand daughter after dashing her the sum of N400.00 only. He confessed to the crime and investigation is in progress.
DSP Magaji concluded that “All the suspects will be charge for Culpable Homicide, extortion and Rape respectively.
