The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS ) condemns in strong terms the recent mob action led by the Chairman of the Bida Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP-BD), Dr Umar Sagarnuwan on the media aide to Rector of the Polytechnic, Mr. Abdulkadir Abdullahi Yahaya over his refusal to join a strike action embarked upon by the union.
The ASUP-BD Chairman who is currently under suspension by management of the polytechnic for publishing false and misleading information about the polytechnic, led a team of some academic staff to physically assault the Rector’s media aide, Abdulkadir Abdullahi in his office.
The victim suffered a major dislocation on his arm as a result of the ruthless and unscrupulous attack from these thugs who were supervised by the suspended ASUP chairman himself.
The mob which came for the media aide’s life also attacked another staff, and a female student of the department of Mass Communication who held down the chair which was intended to be smashed on the media aide’s head.
This is bad, rascal, preposterous and highly condemnable. The world and security agencies should hence, take note that the lives of the Rector’s aides in Federal Polytechnic Bida, are under threat by the suspended ASUP chairman in the school.
Hence, Mr. Umar Mohammed Sarganuwan, should be held responsible for any further attack unleashed on these persons and members of their families.
