Ilomuanya was captured in Lagos on Monday, February 23, 2026, during a precision raid conducted by a Special Operations Unit of the agency.

His arrest follows a prolonged history of alleged involvement in international narcotics trafficking spanning Nigeria and the United Kingdom

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman and CEO of the NDLEA, hailed the operation as a major breakthrough in the agency’s ongoing efforts to dismantle global drug cartels.

According to a statement released Wednesday by Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy, the successful apprehension marks the end of a long-standing “cat-and-mouse game” with the law. The suspect is expected to face legal proceedings regarding his extensive criminal record in the global drug trade.
