1. A report has emerged revealing that President Muhammadu Buhari is the brain behind the naira redesigning policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). According to the report, President Buhari directed the Governor Godwin Emefiele-led apex bank to implement the policy to check the issue of vote buying ahead of the 2023 general elections. Following the severe earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria on Monday and has reportedly claimed over 5,000 lives, the President of the Nigerian Community in Turkey, Embre Magboh, has said that most Nigerians are not residents of the earthquake areas. On Tuesday morning, Turkey’s vice president, Fuat Oktay, said 3,419 people had been killed in the quake, with another 20,534 injured. The number of confirmed deaths on the Syrian side of the border rose to 1,602, bringing the death toll in both countries to 5,021. PUNCH

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated the commission’s commitment to infuse technology in the electoral process amid the coming into force of a new electoral legal framework for the conduct of elections. The World Bank Country Office in Nigeria has disclosed that the incessant fuel scarcity and the inability of Nigerians to access the new naira notes may influence uncertainty ahead of the February 25 and March 10 elections in the country. Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has expressed concern that elements from the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election are regrouping and are using the current crisis generated by the naira redesign policy to undermine Nigeria’s democracy. He claimed that these individuals are disguising themselves as unknown political parties and working with the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to impose an unfeasible cash policy that is affecting the masses. 10. Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has reacted to May Edochie, the first wife of actor Yul Edochie’s N500 million lawsuit against her following her photoshopped image. May Edochie had earlier taken legal action against the actress for sharing a photoshopped version of her family picture which had Yul’s second wife, actress Judy Austin, in the frame.
