1. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced a new date for the commencement of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations. The board disclosed this in a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja on Sunday. Benjamin said the UTME which was earlier scheduled to commence on April 29, would now start on April 25, 2023. He also said the board would hold its rescheduled mock-UTME on April 18, 2023. PUNCH

2. The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brig Gen Y.D. Ahmed has warned members of the corps against travelling at night. In a nationwide Easter message to NYSC members, the DG advised them to ensure their safety wherever they find themselves. In a message signed by Eddy Megwa, NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Gen Ahmed congratulated corps members and wished them a happy Easter celebration. DAILY POST

3. After a ‘revengeful’ victory over Alex Pereira to reclaim his middleweight crown, Israel Adesanya seemed to have caused a stir as former champion Robert Whittaker and familair foe, Jan Blachowicz have called out the martial artist. Adesanya pulled his revenge on Pereira in the early hours of Sunday morning \UFC 287 from inside Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Fla, when he knocked him out cold in the second round to win the UFC Middleweight championship. Shortly after the UFC 287 main event, two of his former opponents dared him to a duel as they look to dispossess him of his latest belt. VANGUARD

4. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 34-year-old South American from Suriname, Dadda Lorenzo Harvy Albert, for drug trafficking. The Director, Media and Advocacy (NDLEA), Mr Femi Babafemi, revealed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja. Babafemi said that the suspect was arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA), Rivers state, for bringing into Nigeria 117 parcels of cocaine. He said that the drugs were concealed in extra-large latex condoms factory packed inside bottles of 100ml body spray. DAILY TRUST

5. Rapper Drake has won $2.7million after Israel Adesanya knocked out Alex Pereira at UFC 287 to reclaim his Middleweight title. Adesanya won back the 185lb title just five months after he lost it to his bitter rival, Pereira, who has previously beaten him twice in kickboxing. Drake lost $1.6million after backing Adesanya to win in the previous fight but he made amends for the rapper in his rematch with Pereira. ‘Drizzy Drake’ placed a $500,000 bet on Adesanya to win which returned $885,000 and a $400,000 bet for him to win by knockout, which returned a massive $1.8million. 6. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Sunday said recent events in Nigeria have shown that Igbos are not wanted in the country. IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, said the treatment being meted out to Igbos is unfair. Powerful lamented that security agencies allowed Shi’ites to protest peacefully but attacked its members in Aba, Abia State. Recently, several IPOB sympathizers protesting for Nnamdi Kanu’s release were reportedly killed in Aba by a combined security team in Aba. DAIY POST

7. Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has narrated how his dad, Chief Adedeji, sent policemen to arrest him several times in the early days of his career. The ‘OBO’ crooner said his dad was initially against his musical career and wanted him to focus on his education. Davido revealed this when he featured on Ebro in the Morning Show on Hot 97FM, New York, United States on the heels of his album release. The station shared the interview on Youtube on Friday. Davido said his dad, at different times, sent cops to arrest him and disrupt shows he was billed to perform at. PUNCH

8. Crystal Palace boosted their bid for Premier League survival with a 5-1 demolition of relegation rivals Leeds on Sunday. Roy Hodgson’s side erased Patrick Bamford’s first half opener with a superb display of counter-attacking at Elland Road. Marc Guehi equalised just before the break and Palace turned on the style after half-time with emphatic finishes from Jordan Ayew, who netted twice, Eberechi Eze and Odsonne Edouard. Palace’s first win at Elland Road since 2006 lifted them six points clear of the relegation zone, while Leeds remain just two points adrift of the bottom three. VANGUARD

9. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) have filed a lawsuit against President Muhammadu Buhari over the N5 million fine on Channels Television. In the suit, they are asking the court to “declare arbitrary, illegal and unconstitutional the N5m fine imposed on Channels Television over a recent interview with the Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.” Joined in the suit as Defendants are the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and Mr Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture. The NBC had recently fined Channels Television N5 million over an interview with Datti Baba-Ahmed. The NBC alleged that the interview ‘violated the NBC code.’ CHANNELS

10. Top music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that during the ordeal of losing his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, he was consoled by fellow music super star and rival, Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a Wizkid, who spoke to him on phone every week. Making this known in an interview on Hot FM Morning Show in New York on Saturday, Davido stated that his rift with Wizkid, which was on for 12 years, ended abruptly during their weekly conversations.
