SENATOR Aliyu Magatakarda Wammakko(APC-Sokoto) at the weekend said the two countries of Nigeria and Niger republics were strategically and duly committed to sustaining their mutual security, unity and development for growth.
Senator Wamakko who made the remark in Niamey, the Nigerien capital on official visit according to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani spoke to newsmen shortly after talks held behind closed doors with
President Muhammadou Isoufou of Niger republic Friday night.
During the 2-day official visit to the country, Senator Wamakko who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, said,” we are here for our routine meeting with the President on some issues of common interests ranging from health, security, agriculture and other related issues,among others.
” We are also in Niamey to see the President who has become an Adviser and mutual partner.
” So, we are confident that our discussions today will further boost peace, unity and socioeconomic prosperity between Nigeria and Niger republics, as well as Sokoto in particular .”
However, those on the entourage of the Nigerian lawmaker and former Governor of Sokoto state include Senator Mustapha Bukar, representing Katsina North, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Alhaji Sahabi Isa Gada and Sarkin Kudun Daura, Alhaji Abdullahi Bukar, Mr Peter Butt and the former Chairman of Sokoto North Local Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Hassan.
