The Social Democratic Party has given hope to Nigerian widows, pledging that their days of succor and consolation was close bye as the SDP’s manifesto adequately provides for a social program that is meant to empower and alleviate the hardships often faced by Nigerian widows upon the demise of their husbands.
According to a statement signed by SDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary ,Alfa Mohammed ,the National Secretary of the SDP, Alh Shehu musa Gabam, who revealed this before a group of journalists during a brief ceremony to mark the international widows day at the national headquarters of the SDP said that “SDP salutes and shares the griefs of the widows in Nigeria and across the globe as they mark the International Widows Day”. He pledged that the much expected government of the SDP will initiative executive bills that will eradicate all traditional rites and practices that are hash against the windows.
Speaking on the same subject, the National woman leader of the party, Hajiya Mariam Batubu expressed the party’s solidarity with the Nigerian widows, pledging that SDP would initiate a bill for creation of agency for widows affairs at various tiers of Governance if it takes power in 2019.
She therefore called on the federal government to initiate programs that would make life easy for the widows, because according to her the suffering of Nigerian widows is worse than that of a prisoner
