The Association of People Living With Disability (PLWD) in Kaduna state have called for the immediate passage and implementation of the disability by the state government.
Speaking to Journalists today, August 20,2019 the Chairman of Cluster Heads of PLWD, Rilwan M. Abdullah said the bill is there life.
” the disability bill is our life. We are calling for the passage and implementation of the bill because it will be of great importance and value to us,” he said.
He added that the bill was sent as a private bill in 2009 is still at the committee level stating that Governor Nasir el-Rufai had during his campaign promised a speedy passage of the bill as well as it implementation.
“The bill was sent to the House of Assembly in 2009 as a private bill. When we met with the Governor he said that he will take the bill as an executive bill. “
“We want the governor to fulfill his campaign promise to PLWD as we expect Kaduna state to be in the forefront of this campaign especially in the northern part of the country,” he added.
He praised the state governor on the recent employment of 21 PLWD out of 66 persons which he said was more than the 32 percent recommended by the Nigeria disability Act signed by President Buhari.
They used the medium to thank partners and sponsors Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn in Kaduna state who have been touching many lives especially PLWDs
