THE Zone 10 headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Sokoto has confirmed the recovery of 177 assorted guns from across the three states under its command following its strategic operations against criminal activities.
Similarly, the Zone said it has discovered an armoury allegedly belonging to a group of notorious bandits known as “Zukuri” in Zamfara where no fewer than 30 AK-47 rifles were recovered at a time.
The states are Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara according to the Zone’s PPRO, Bashir Musa who disclosed to reporters in Sokoto.
However, AK-47 rifles, Light Machine guns, FN rifles, Lar rifles pistol, GG rifles and locally fabricated den guns were among the recoveries made across the states according to the Zonal PPRO.
He attributed the feat to the ongoing amnesty programme in Zamfara state which he said, played a great role towards the recoveries. In the same vein, the Force Zonal image maker disclosed the arrest no fewer than two kidnap suspects including ten others for alleged culpable homicide offences and one other suspected to have been involved in attack on Nassarawa state Deputy Governor.
” Also recovered from hoodlums were 143 animals comprising of Sheep and Cows in addition to eight motorcycles”, Musa confirmed while assuring that the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone, AIG Muhammad Mustapha remained committed to sustained efforts at combating crime and in readiness to live up its constitutional role and public expectations.
The Force image maker further called on all citizens to be law abiding while urging them to be free with the police by giving useful information on suspicious persons and activities that were capable of undermining security, peace and laws of the land
