Renewed Hope Initiative , Tony Elumelu Foundation disburse N25 million empowerment grant to 500 Women in Kebbi

The Renewed Hope Initiative in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation have launched a Women Economic Empowerment Programme in Kebbi state with the disbursement of N25,000,000 to 500 women beneficiaries

The drive is aimed at empowering Nigerians (women) as well strengthen efforts at boosting entrepreneurship and economic growth in Africa.

 

The focus on women is targeted at encouraging support to them to grow their small scale ventures through the partnership to guarantee recapitalisation and provide for their families , educate their children and further uplift their respective communities.

 

Speaking at the launch of the disbursement , the state Coordinator and Kebbi state first lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris on behalf of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said each of the beneficiaries would be given N50,000 adding that the initiative was to boost financial independence and support the growth of business among women.

 

“It is not a loan; it is a renewed seed that enables you to invest in your business to make it more sustainable.

 

” The empowerment programme targets 500 women in each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory”, She stated.

 

She encouraged and stressed the urgent for the women to view the grant as a stepping stone to meaningful entrepreneurship that would inturn , impact them.

 

Also, the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Halimat Muhammad Bande who urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grant, thanked the Nigerian First Lady for the initiative noting that the drive was the 8th in series under the Renewed Hope Initiative in Kebbi State.

 

Meanwhile , the state APC Women Leader, Hajia Aisha Gunabi, told them to brace their businesses with opportunity inorder to improve on and support their means of livelihood .
