The postponement affects his planned attendance at the G20 and AU-EU summits.

The decision was made against the backdrop of several recent security crises:

The invasion of a church at Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Monday, which claimed three lives and led to multiple abductions.

The kidnap of 25 female students and the killing of the Vice-Principal of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, Kebbi State.

The killing of the Commander of the 25 Taskforce Brigade, Brigadier-General Musa Uba.

Responding to a request from Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, President Tinubu ordered the deployment of more security personnel to Eruku and the Ekiti Local Government Area and directed the police to pursue the bandits responsible for attacking the worshippers.
