As a result of insecurity, poverty and social underdevelopment bedeviling Sokoto East and in his resolve to consolidate his purposeful and visionary Economic and Social Empowerment programmes , Senator Ibrahim Lamido (APC- Sokoto) has unveiled the distribution of tractors to constituents to enhance and boost farming activities , improve transportation services across 8 LGs in Sokoto East Senatorial District.
Similarly , no fewer than 43 assorted vehicles for luxury, commercial transport including buses of Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Peugeot brands as well motor cycles and tricycles worth millions of naira were also given to individuals( youths and politicians ) to support their daily needs as means for livelihood.
Senator Ibrahim Lamido elected on the platform of the ruling APC at the centre and Sokoto state , is a political and red carpet chamber first timer lawmaker.
Speaking, the Coordinator, Hon. Kabiru Sarkin Fulani Goronyo who presented the items including motorcycles and tricycles to beneficiaries on behalf of the lawmaker, said Sokoto East had in the past, not impacted the way Senator Lamido has set to empower his people.
” We in the District have cause to express gratitude to God and to commend the Senator for his commitment to and impactful representation.
” He has been doing a lot to transform Sokoto East through building a future for the youths by sponsoring their education, giving scholarship , providing social amenities in solar street lights, boreholes, ICT centers and skills acquisition platform for women and youth”, Sarkin Fulani mentioned .
Also , the guest speaker at the event , Professor Mua’zu Shamaki who described Senator Lamido as ‘people’s Senator ‘ pointed out that the legacies of the lawmaker within 2 years were a practical symbol of true representation that focuses on community empowerment and development.
He stressed that his accomplishments and commitment to the advancement of his constituents were enormous , noting that the lawmaker has supported constituents in the areas of education , health , security, humanitarian intervention, politics and job creation to reposition Sokoto East.
According to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University lecturer ” Lamido has influenced many positive things to the benefit of his constituents across Gada, Sabin Birni, Isa, Goronyo , Illela, Rabah, Wurno and Gwadabawa LGs which he represents.
” In him we see a change leader, a companionate role model and second to none. For us, there is only one political party and candidate who is Senator Lamido “, he stressed amidst ovation as he disclosed that the lawmaker’s developmental legacies through his foundation also supported 250 widows and orphans who lost their breadwinners to bandits attacks and extended similarly gesture to IDPs by providing food items and other packages for self sufficiency.
The Committee Secretary of the Senator Ibrahim Lamido Educational Trust Fund , Mr Lamir Aminu also said the lawmaker has done remarkably well since his election .
Aminu said his emergence was no doubt a blessing and a mark of new lease of life for Sokoto East constituents who were for long under siege of security challenges and other socio-economic crisis occasioned by insecurity due to banditry.
” A lot have been done by Lamido to save the future of our youths , women and children through numerous empowerment programmes and interventions to better their lives irrespective of political leanings or differences.
” In fact , more than 1,000 motorcycles and tricycles are on ground for distribution to enable our youths engage in meaningful venture as means of their livelihood.
