The All Progressives Congress in Sokoto state has described governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as a worthy ambassador of the party for achieving a lot and performing excellently under two years in the development process to reposition the caliphate.
” His performance in less than two years of piloting the affairs of the state has further dwarfed the 8 years of his predecessor’s failed government”
It recalled that despite robbing it of it 2019 victory by what it described as “342 electoral fraud” , the party did not despair
to re-strategise and come out stronger to reclaim it mandate in 2023 to set the ball rolling for a new Sokoto state.
According to the ruling party in the state , many people voted for Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto with the benefit of the doubt and ” today, we are proud owners of a performing governor.
” It is a fact that many others voted him based on the credentials of his political mentor and the father of Sokoto politics, Distinguished Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, Sarkin Yakin Sokoto.”
The party Chairman, Sadik Isah Achida said at a press briefing Monday in Sokoto while reeling out the score card and achievements of governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto who in a few weeks time, will be two years in office.
The Chairman explained that the emergence of governor Aliyu Sokoto was driven by the resilience and team spirit of he , Achida as Chief Salesman and other fellow compatriots who canvassed, cajoled, campaigned and convinced voters to vote the state governor.
” I’m today standing before you to present his Scorecard to the people of Sokoto State and the entire World”
He said governor Aliyu Sokoto has in less than two years , given a superlative and incontrovertible progressive account of his competence to further the course of the state in good light with excellent performance that reflects transformation through his 9-point smart agenda drive.
” The governor has unimaginably constructed several urban and rural roads including the completion of numerous abandoned projects by the immediate past PDP government. Besides, the completion of the 12 Kilometer Southern Bypass linking Kasarawa along B/Kebbi road, with Kwannawa along Gusau road.
” Built no fewer than 1136 houses, made up of 500 at Gidan Salanke, 500 at Wajake, Wamakko Local Government and the 136 housing units purchased from the Federal Housing Authority.”, Achida disclosed .
Other monumental land mark efforts to reposition the state include, strengthening security operations crime and criminality of banditry and su dry offences by providing support to security agencies in the state for the safety of public and property, the establishment of Community Guards Corps to brace efforts of conventional forces across 13 pilot LGs to also proactively stand against external security challenges from neighbouring Niger republic.
Hitherto, Achida noted there has been remarkable improvement in water supply with the upgrade and resuscitation of major water supply and treatment plants project of 40 billion gallons daily and total renovation of borehole projects to meeting the water needs of both urban and rural residents among other social and economic intervention policy drive to enhance the living standards of Sokoto people.
” Our government has equally committed attention and resource in the education sector with result oriented policies that improved enrollment at the basic and secondary levels , provided scholarships for its students studying at home and abroad, provided conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning with state of the arts facilities especially at state owned tertiary institutions while giving special relevance to PLWDs through empowerment and inclusivity”, he mentioned.
He said ” we have also encouraged a policy that focuses on religious activities through the Ministry for Religious Affairs by empowering and rehabilitating as well extending gestures to all structures of its leadership and mosques by giving monthly allowances and supporting the have nots with essential packages in food, cash and clothings during Ramadan fast and sallah festivities “, he enumerated while saying that the first 2 years governor Aliyu Sokoto was far better than the 8 years of profligacy and wild goose chase of his predecessor.
According to him, the scorecard presented served as testimony that “governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is people focused, responsive, responsible and accountable to the people of Sokoto state .”
