Sokoto youths under the auspices of Concerned Sokoto state Youths on Tuesday called on the police in the state to within the next 24 hrs cause the immediately arrest and trial of the state Peoples Democratic Party chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma over recent inciting statements capable of igniting violence in the peace loving state.
” We urgently demand the police within 24hrs to order the arrest and trial of the state PDP chairman for inciting statements that portends danger in the state.”
Addressing a press conference in Sokoto, Chairman of the youth group, Ambassador Mustapha Ibrahim described as unfortunate the utterances of Milgoma which he noted was not just a threat to the peaceful coexistence of people in the state, but a total declaration of war, in the state by the party’s desperate politicians.
” This Press Conference urgently organised to draw the attention of the world, particularly the security agencies, to a very unfortunate and desperate declaration by the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party , PDP, in Sokoto State, where he called on members of his party to “give whatever it takes to secure their votes, come 9th March, 2019”, Ibrahim pointed out.
According to the concerned youth group” Milgoma further disclosed while making the statement that , his members “should kill if it warrants, and they can even go ahead to kill even a security agent that poses any threat to them “.
However, the youth group stressed further ” Let it be noted that, the PDP Chairman is being used to stoke breach of peace and create violent crisis that may result into blood letting in various parts of the State, if immediate action is not taken by the relevant security agencies.
” It is in the light of these treasonable and inciting utterances by Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma , that we demand that the State Police Command, should within the next 24 hours, order the arrest and commence immediate trial of the PDP Chairman “, it maintained.
While urging the good people of Sokoto State, particularly the youth to ignore the gross irresponsible call for anarchy in the state, the concerned youth group also called on all good spirited Nigerians to rise in condemnation of the actions and utterances of misguided and desperate politicians whom he said were being used to instigate violence, that portends grave danger to national cohesion and our hard earned democracy.
” We call on the people of Sokoto State to come out en masse and exercise their rights on Saturday, without any fear, as we hope and believe that, the security agencies will urgently do the needful, to protect the lives and property of the law abiding citizens and guarantee a free and fair process of elections”, Ambassador Ibrahim urged.
