Sokoto constructs new livestock market at Illela town

LIVESTOCK business in Illela town in Sokoto state will be enhanced following approval by the Sokoto state government for the construction of a new livestock market otherwise Kara market at the boarder town.

The State Commissioner for Animal Health and Fisheries Development, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Alkali announced at a meeting held with the Chairman, Illela local government, Alhaji Abdullahi Haruna Illela.

Alkali said the essence is to boost and fast track purposeful economic activities and encourage livestock business in the area and the state in particular.

According to him” Illela has vast business potentials as a strong commercial hub for both Nigerians and traders and business partners from neighbouring Niger republic.

” We are embarking on the project as a renewed focus to improve the economic base of the area and enhance its commercial advantage as a border town neighbouring Niger republic.

” A lot of business opportunities are traced to Illela for its strategic location hence the Sokoto state government commitment to strengthen such activities that would promote sustained economic gains”, the Commissioner pointed out.

He said ” the initiative is in line with the diversification drive to optimally explore non oil sectors for additional revenue deriviation.”
