A new Chief Judge in Acting capacity, Justice Muhammadu Sa’idu Sifawa has been appointed for Sokoto state by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Sifawa’s appointment approved by Governor Tambuwal took effect from December 31st, 2018 following the retirement of the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Bello Abbas and the renunciation by Justice Bello Duwale of his right to be appointed as Acting Chief Judge, pending the appointment and confirmation of a substantive Chief Judge of the State.
In a release issued to newsmen Monday in Sokoto by Abu Shekara, Director General to the Governor on Media and Public Affairs the appointment is in exercise of Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s power conferred on him by Section 271(4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended ).
Accordingly, Tambuwal congratulated Justice Sifawa on his appointment and wished him success in his tenure.
