Sokoto govt okays 2025 draft budget for presentation Friday, awards over N3bn township roads contract

Sokoto state government has concluded and approved a draft of it 2025 proposed budget to be presented to the state assembly on Friday by Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto .

The draft budget for the 2025 fiscal year was approved following the state executive council meeting Wednesday chaired by the governor .

Briefing reporters on the 10 Exco meeting , the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Balarabe Kadadi said the draft was in line with the cardinal principles of transparency and accountability in governance which the administration respected.

According to Kadadi , said it was all inclusive with drive to sustain priority in the areas of health, education , skills acquisition and religious affairs as well the fight against security challenges especially banditry and kidnapping among other sundry crimes.

” We committed to driving sustained efforts for the state economic prosperity and peaceful coexistence among our people “, he stressed.

Also, Barrister Nasiru Aliyu Dantsoho , Commissioner for Lands and Housing disclosed that approvals were reached by the council for the award of township roads contracts in the metropolis.

He explained that the contracts were in line with the governor’s 9-point Smart agenda to reposition and develop a new Sokoto state.

” It will provide both motorists and commuters easy movement and access to these areas .”

Dantsoho said the roads include: rehabilitation of Mabera axis roads off U/Rogo to Kantin Sani at N729.8m , Kantin Sani to Gidan Bulon Magaji at the cost of N841m and that of Tafarki road to Eastern By-pass at N1.566bn and from Burtali Junction to Masallacin Lukuwa for N756m.

Also are: Massallacin Adinere to General Murtala hospital at N502m while that of Buzaye road will gulp N674.9m.

He said all contracts would be completed in six months as he disclosed that by 2025, all metropolitan roads would be rehabilitated.
